Spitfire Audio BML Flute Consort Vol.1 | KONTAKT | 12.8 GB
After the delights of enormous wind libraries and ensembles providing broad, brushstroke approaches to writing (which have, to some extent, characterised recent film, gaming and TV music), Spitfire are at last proud to present some of the greatest wind players in the world to provide you with the tools you need to write detailed and focussed woods parts that have a personality and style that represents your personality, that expresses your creative will and provides you with fresh pastures of experimentation.
Spitfire presents the BML Flute Consort.
Part of a new, long-term project entitled THE BRITISH MODULAR LIBRARY providing composers with the ability to add fine detail, musical expression, beauty and focus to their work. To write music that musicians love to play and to get the most out of smaller ensembles and the wealth of timbral colour and character they can add to any project. After many years of development experience Spitfire will present this library with a user interface and set of features unprecedented in any library to date. With 7 mic positions, recorded at 96k through vintage valve and ribbon mics to tape through Neve premaps and Prism convertors, and presented at 48k, 24bit in Kontakt format, and additionally three extremely useful ‘mixed’ versions.
Flute Consort is presented in modular volumes and consists of the finest players London has to offer, playing in the hall at Air Studios, regarded as one of the greatest scoring stages in the world.
London woodwind players are considered amongst the best in the world. Where film music sessions are concerned it could be argued that you wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. Woodwinds are so expressive they can be a bugger to sample. So our beliefis to start with the best and then work as hard as we can to honour the talent we have captured.
The Flute Consort features three of the finest players in London today one recorded solo, two recorded in unison. They are seated exactly in situ so combine the a2 patches with the solo ones for a slightly larger section whilst maintaining spectral integrity. Volume One features a selection of the most commonly asked for articulations sampled deeply with numerous round robins, dynamic layers. With mixable levels vibrato, numerous mic positions, stereo mixes from Jake Jackson, all of which are presented with a simple, out of the box ease of use and the BML UI. Learn one Spitfire GUI, learn them all.
Combined with the majesty of the hall at Air, that signal chain, that 2” tape, Jake Jackson’s mastery of the room and the mixes, and a beautifully programmed instrument that “just works”, we’re sure you’ll agree you’ve just laid your hands on something truly special.
LEGATO - Monophonic patches that track the intervals you’re playing and inserts these transitions between the notes. Overlap you’re notes to instruct the script to perform this task, separate the notes to retrigger the tongued sample.
LEGATO DETACHE - As above but where the player has detached the note (put a bit of daylight between the notes).
LONG - Polyphonic longs. Remember to whiggle your mod wheel and play with differing levels of vibrato!
LONG HOLLOW - A more primative sound produced by altering the blowing style. These can only be played in a reduced register.
LONG HARMONIC - Alternate fingering to produce notes with harmonics for a slighlty more frgile sound. These can only be played in a reduced register.
LONG FLUTTER - The player literally flutters his/ her tongue whilst blowing to produce a distinctive “inquisative” sound. These can only be played in a reduced register.
LONG OVERBLOWN (REST IN SOLO FOR OVERLAYING) - Blowing the instrument hard to produces harsh and bright overtones. These can only be played in a reduced register.
SHORT STACCATISSIMO - Very short notes.
SHORT TENUTO - Slightly longer.
SHORT MARCATO - The longest of our shorts.
SHORT MARCATO SFZ - Very loud long shorts.
SHORT OVERBLOWN (REST IN SOLO) - As with the overblown longs but short.
MULTITONGUE - Like a tremolando, a more measured toungue flutter. DOUBLE, TRIPLE AND QUAD ARE TRIGGERED BY MOVING THE MOD WHEEL (CC#1).
TRILL MINOR 2ND - No flute library would be complete without these, where the player flutters his or her fingers between two notes, most commonly in half and whole tones. All trills are recorded with a “natural” start, whereby the inertia at the beginning of the articulation can be heard. to cut straight into the trill hit your controller harder!
TRILL MAJOR 2ND - As above but a whole tone.
