This image is shot using a Cambo Ultima D camera and a wide angle lens giving the bottle a much more interesting look than if it had been shot using a macro lens. A glossy black base with a black background is use along with liquid drops on the base. The goal of this shot is to get a ‘hero’ or larger than life look of the perfume bottle.

What we have learned on this shot?

Shooting from the bottom will make a product to look dramatic. Inevitable perspective distortion can be fixed with tilt-shift lens or in post-production, using various techniques.

Creating a bright spot on a dark background, right behind the glass (clear or semi-transparent), is a “winner” for the most of situations.

When reflection from the product is needed, use a black plexiglass or cover the table with a tiny film of water: it will work much better than a ‘regular” mirror. Mirror is not good because of a double reflection.
