It consist of eleven stylistically diverse original compositions.
Inspired by origins and mutations of 20 century primal swing music.
Swingatan is an acoustic swing quintet, consisting of the violin, two guitars, accordion and a double bass.
They perform their own music, stylishly close to swing and bossa nova, rhythms characteristic of the 1930s and 1940s and the new gipsy jazz standards reminiscent of guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli.
Much of Swingatan composing is closer to music inspired by violinist Stuff Smith and with the extra accordion parts added their music sounds refreshingly new on the market.
Their repertoire consists from classic swinging dance tunes to ballads and classical etudes including virtuoso themes all fired up with the ruthless swinging rhythm’n’drive.
All members of the quintet are established jazz and classical musicians working in Slovenia as well as abroad.
Swingatan is their permanent and regularly ongoing venture, the crowning glory of which was the release this year of their first album.
The concert will therefore serve as a showcase for their fresh new compositions.
