The new Controlling Your Fractures in Houdini tutorial is now available for viewing!
Anyone can break things, but it takes a skilled CG of VFX artist to control the way objects fall apart as it’s breaking.
Today we’re giving members a sneak peek of a new tutorial on Controlling Your Fractures in Houdini available Monday.
This tutorial will teach the process to follow in order to pre-fracture an object and make it fall apart in a controlled manner.
To do so, members will use some Voronoi fracture in combination with a constraint network in the bullet solver of Houdini, and then break the network in a customized way in order to reach the wanted effect.
Lastly, we’ll learn how to add smoke and dust to complete the effect.
Be sure to watch the sneak peek and then delve deeper into Houdini by checking out more Houdini tutorials and don’t forget about Jean-Michel Bihorel’s other tutorials for Digital-Tutors on Crafting Characters from Design to Complete in ZBrush and Maya and Facial Tracking in 2DEqualizer and Maya.
